The service that we're using to Efile does not allow line returns so we've used capital letters to separate the sections of text in this statement to make it easier to read: A) Our mission is to bring high quality news and information from across the Internet to the public 24 hours a day, 365 days a year in order to educate the public, and improve our country and our world. On average we publish over 28 editions a day, covering various topic areas such as health, education, nonprofits, philanthropy, world affairs, national affairs, science, business, and the arts. Each edition includes numerous news stories, features, columns, photos, audio clips, videos and live chats. We have never missed a single day. B) Our service appeals to a wide swath of the public, and is not limited to a particular community or region. C) Our website is entirely free of charge to the public. We do not charge for its use or for registering. In addition, all of our past editions are made available to the public online for free on a continuous basis in our news archives section. Nearly all of our site is accessible without registering. The other small portion is accessible for free for any person from the public who wants to spend 1 minute registering. The only reason registration is needed is that a user account is needed so their preferences on the site can be used. D) In IRS Year 2007, we had over 100 volunteers donate a total of 18,211 volunteer hours. The nonprofit association Independent Sector provides national rates for the value of services from volunteers that it updates annually from Bureau of Labor Statiscs data. For calendar year 2008, they estimate the dollar value of volunteer time is $20.25 per hour. http://www.independentsector.org/volunteer_time. Their number comes from the Bureau of Labor Statiscs average wage figure increased by 12 percent to estimate for fringe benefits. Based on their recommended figure, volunteers gave us $368,777.47 in support in IRS year 2007 (our Fiscal Year ending Sept. 30, 2008). The IRS rules do not allow us to list that on the chart, yet it is support from the public. Counting it along with our $115,301 in monetary support for IRS year 2007 would put our public support at 76% even without factoring in donations under the 2% threshold. With donations under the 2% threshold included, it's over 76%. In IRS Year 2008, we had over 120 volunteers donate 25,326.36 hours, which using the Independent Sector suggestion, is $512,858.79 in support. Even if a much lower figure like $15 an hour is used, it still is $379,895.40. The Independent Sector estimates the value in 2009 at $20.85 an hour. In IRS year 2009, we had over 160 volunteers donate 36,365.51 hours. Using the Independent Sector figure, this is $758,220.88 in support from the public . If this is counted towards support, 83% of our support comes from the public, even without factoring in donations under the 2% threshold. Even if a much lower figure like $15 an hour is used, it still is $545,482.65 in the most recent year of volunteer support, which represents 77% of total support. E) Our board is a mix of men and women from different states and different work backgrounds who represent a broad cross-section of public interests and views. Board member Peter Dunn is a journalist and former small business owner who has volunteered for numerous nonprofits. He is located in Florida. Board member Amy Luchans is Associate Director of Alumni Relations at Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts and was assistant director of student activities at another college. Board member Walter Regan was formerly the Executive Director of the Online News Association, and worked for National Public Radio. He is located in Virginia. Board Member Ellen Ferrante is president of a health-care company and serves on the boards of CASA Worcester County, a nonprofit in Massachusetts, and Salve Regina University in Rhode Island. Board member Michael Kolar is a coach based in St. Paul, Minnesota. F) Our nonprofit has an ongoing fund-raising program, and we have received support from 35 different sources in the last 5 years. This includes from individuals, foundations and corporations, including Bank of America and Microsoft. Our donations that come from individuals come from a broad cross-section of people young and old, and have ranged from $5 to $25,000. As we have become better known, our support has grown. Of the sources, 26 were new in the last three years. We meet one-on-one with potential donors, we apply for grants with foundations and corporations, and we have a section on our Web site on a continuous basis encouraging people to donate. We send out an annual appeal and now have a list of over 350 people we will send our next appeal to. In addition, we have set up a module on our Web site that will allow donors to make recurring donations either quarterly or annually. G) People with significant expertise in our field are involved with our site. This includes Laura Noueihed who was the chief editor of the night edition for the front page of the New York Times' Web site for three years, the chief editor of the National Law Journal's Web site for six years, and a professor at the Columbia University School of Journalism, where she helped develop a curriculum for teaching journalists online news production. It also includes Lynne Adams who was in charge of a team of 30 journalists covering breaking news, international and national stories for the BBC. She also ran mulitmedia training workshops for BBC's journalists. To see more people who participate, feel free to visit the \"Our Team\" page on our site. C - LINE 17A. The service that we're using to Efile does not allow line returns so we've used capital letters to separate the sections of text to make it easier to read. Our nonprofit organization meets the facts and circumstances test for the following reasons: A) Our mission is to convey high quality information to the public on subjects useful to individuals and beneficial to society and the world (such as nonprofits, philanthropy, human rights, world affairs, the environment, health, and education), promote the sharing and discussing of ideas and information, and promote increased voluntarism and philanthropy. In the previous year, we published over 4,000 editions of our websites that do the above, including DailySource.org. Most editions included text, audio clips, photos and videos. B) Our service appeals to a wide swath of the public, and is not limited to a particular community or region. C) Our Web site is entirely free of charge to the public. D) A lot of our support comes through contributions of time that save us very large amounts of money we'd otherwise need to spend on staff. On average we have over 45 volunteers donate over 10,000 volunteer hours a year. The nonprofit association Independent Sector provides national rates for the value of services from volunteers that it updates annually from Bureau of Labor Statics data. For calendar year 2013, they estimated the dollar value of volunteer time is $22.55 per hour: http:/ /www.independentsector.org/programs/research/volunteer_time.html. Their number comes from the Bureau of Labor Statics average wage figure increased by 12 percent to estimate for fringe benefits such as FICA. Based on their recommended figure, volunteers gave us over $1,127,500 in support over the last 5 years. The IRS rules do not allow us to list that on the chart, yet it is support from the public. If these hours counted towards support using the Independent Sector's suggested number, then over 50% of our support over the past 5 years came from the public. Even if a much lower figure like $18 an hour is used, it is still means over 40% of our real-life support comes from the public. E) Our board is a mix of men and women from different states and different work backgrounds who represent a broad cross-section of public interests and views. Board member Peter Dunn is a journalist and former small business owner who has volunteered for numerous nonprofits. He is located in Florida. Board member Amy Luchans is Associate Director of Alumni Relations at Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts and was assistant director of student activities at another college. His coverage of multiple diverse topics has earned him major awards from the Overseas Press Club of America, the Associated Press, the Society of Professional Journalists, the International Radio Festival of New York, the Gabriel Awards and more. He is located in Missouri. Board Member Ellen Ferrante is president of a health-care company and serves on the boards of CASA Worcester County, a nonprofit in Massachusetts, and Salve Regina University in Rhode Island. Board member Michael Kolar is a coach and seminar leader, and is based in St. Paul, Minnesota. service that we're using to Efile does not allow line returns so we've used capital letters to separate the sections of text to make it easier to read. Our nonprofit organization meets the facts and circumstances test for the following reasons: A) Our mission is to convey high quality information to the public on subjects useful to individuals and beneficial to society and the world (such as nonprofits, philanthropy, human rights, world affairs, the environment, health, and education), promote the sharing and discussing of ideas and information, and promote increased voluntarism and philanthropy. In the previous year, we published over 9,500 editions of our websites that do the above. Most editions included text, audio clips, photos, videos and live chats. B) Our service appeals to a wide swath of the public, and is not limited to a particular community or region. C) Our Web site is entirely free of charge to the public. We do not charge for its use or for registering. In addition, all of our past editions are made available to the public online for free on a continuous basis in our archives section. Nearly all of our site is accessible without registering. The other small portion is accessible for free for any person from the public who wants to spend 1 minute registering. The only reason registration is needed is that a user account is needed so their preferences on the site can be remembered. D) In IRS Year 2007, we had over 100 volunteers donate a total of 18,211 volunteer hours. The nonprofit association Independent Sector provides national rates for the value of services from volunteers that it updates annually from Bureau of Labor Statics data. For calendar year 2008, they estimate the dollar value of volunteer time is $20.25 per hour: http://www.independentsector.org/programs/research/volunteer_time.html. Their number comes from the Bureau of Labor Statics average wage figure increased by 12 percent to estimate for fringe benefits. Based on their recommended figure, volunteers gave us $368,777.47 in support in IRS year 2007 (our Fiscal Year ending Sept. 30, 2008). The IRS rules do not allow us to list that on the chart, yet it is support from the public. Counting it along with our $115,301 in monetary support for IRS year 2007 would put our public support at 76% even without factoring in donations under the 2% threshold for that year. With donations under the 2% threshold included, it's over 76%. In IRS Year 2008, we had over 120 volunteers donate 25,326.36 hours. In IRS year 2009, we had over 160 volunteers donate 36,365.51 hours. In IRS year 2010, we had over 130 volunteers donate 32,500 hours. In IRS year 2011, we had over 110 volunteers donate 21,719.46 hours. If these 135,307 hours counted towards support using the Independent Sector's 2008 number, then 79.92% of our support over the past 5 years comes from the public, even without factoring in donations under the 2% threshold. Even if a much lower figure like $15 an hour is used, it is still $2,029,605 in donated volunteer time, and means 74.85% of our support comes from the public. E) Our board is a mix of men and women from different states and different work backgrounds who represent a broad cross-section of public interests and views. Board member Peter Dunn is a journalist and former small business owner who has volunteered for numerous nonprofits. He is located in Florida. Board member Amy Luchans is Associate Director of Alumni Relations at Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts and was assistant director of student activities at another college. Board member Vincent Winkel was the managing editor of Public Interactive, a division of NPR that provides Web platforms and online news content for over 300 public radio and television stations around the country, and later worked at American Public Media as Web editor and producer, and has worked for CNN, CBS, NPR and the BBC as a reporter. His coverage of multiple diverse topics has earned him major awards from the Overseas Press Club of America, the Associated Press, the Society of Professional Journalists, the International Radio Festival of New York, the Gabriel Awards and more. He is located in Missouri. Board Member Ellen Ferrante is president of a health-care company and serves on the boards of CASA Worcester County, a nonprofit in Massachusetts, and Salve Regina University in Rhode Island. Board member Michael Kolar is a coach and seminar leader, and is based in St. Paul, Minnesota. F) Our nonprofit has an ongoing fund-raising program, and we have received support from 34 different sources in the last 5 years. This includes from individuals, foundations and corporations, including Bank of America and Microsoft. Our donations that come from individuals come from a broad cross-section of people young and old, and have ranged from $5 to $25,000. We meet one-on-one with potential donors, we apply for grants with foundations, and we have a section on our Web site on a continuous basis encouraging people to donate. In addition, we have set up a module on our Web site that will allow donors to make recurring donations either quarterly or annually. G) People with significant expertise in our field participate in creating our editions for the public each day. This includes Carla Baranauckas who worked for 21 years at the New York Times, where she supervised editors and reporters in the department responsible for the front page of the Times website, and was the deputy copy chief for the national news. She is currently a professor at the Columbia University School of Journalism, where she teaches journalism to graduate students, and trains instructors for the school. It also includes Lynne Adams who was in charge of a team of 30 journalists covering breaking news, international and national stories for the BBC. She also ran mulitmedia training workshops for BBC's journalists. To see more people who participate, feel free to visit the \"Our Team\" page on our site. In IRS year 2010, we had about 140 volunteers donate 32,500 hours. Using the Independent Sector figure of $21.36 an hour, this is $694,200 in support from the public. II, SECTION C - LINE 17A. The service that we're using to Efile does not allow line returns so we've used capital letters to separate the sections of text to make it easier to read. Our nonprofit organization meets the facts and circumstances test for the following reasons: A) Our mission is to convey high quality information to the public on subjects useful to individuals and beneficial to society and the world (such as nonprofits, philanthropy, human rights, world affairs, the environment, health, science and education), promote the sharing and discussing of ideas and information, and promote increased voluntarism and philanthropy. In the previous year, we published over 2,000 editions of our websites that do the above, including DailySource.org. Most editions included text, audio clips, photos and videos. B) Our service appeals to a wide swath of the public, and is not limited to a particular community or region. C) Our Web site is entirely free of charge to the public. We do not charge for its use or for registering. In addition, all of our past editions are made available to the public online for free on a continuous basis in our archives section. Nearly all of our site is accessible without registering. The other small portion is accessible for free for any person from the public who wants to spend 1 minute registering. The only reason registration is needed is that a user account is needed so their preferences on the site can be remembered. D) A lot of our support comes through contributions of time that save us very large amounts of money we'd otherwise need to spend on staff. On average we have over 35 volunteers donate over 8,000 volunteer hours a year. The nonprofit association Independent Sector provides national rates for the value of services from volunteers that it updates annually from Bureau of Labor Statics data. For calendar year 2017, they estimated the dollar value of volunteer time is $24.14 per hour: https://independentsector.org/news-post/value-volunteer-time/. Their number comes from the Bureau of Labor Statics average wage figure increased by 12 percent to estimate for fringe benefits such as FICA. Based on their recommended figure, volunteers gave us over $1,000,000 in support over the last 5 years. The IRS rules do not allow us to list that on the chart, yet it is support from the public. If these hours counted towards support using the Independent Sector's suggested number, then over 50% of our support over the past 5 years came from the public. Even if a much lower figure like $18 an hour is used, it is still means over 40% of our real-life support comes from the public. E) Our board is a mix of men and women from different states and different work backgrounds who represent a broad cross-section of public interests and views. Board member Peter Dunn is a journalist and former small business owner who has volunteered for numerous nonprofits. He is located in Florida. Board member Amy Luchans is Associate Director of Alumni Relations at Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts and was assistant director of student activities at another college. Board member Vincent Winkel was the managing editor of Public Interactive, a division of NPR that provides Web platforms and online news content for over 300 public radio and television stations around the country, and later worked at American Public Media as Web editor and producer, and has worked for CNN, CBS, NPR and the BBC as a reporter. His coverage of multiple diverse topics has earned him major awards from the Overseas Press Club of America, the Associated Press, the Society of Professional Journalists, the International Radio Festival of New York, the Gabriel Awards and more. He is located in Missouri. Board Member Susan Barron is President of the Alumni Association of Lawrence Academy, an independent high school in Groton, Massachusetts. She also volunteers for the Parent-Teachers Association in her home town of Concord, MA. Board member Michael Kolar is a coach and seminar leader, and is based in St. Paul, Minnesota. F) Our nonprofit has an ongoing fund-raising program, and we have received support from numerous different sources. This includes from individuals, foundations and corporations, including Bank of America and Microsoft. Our donations that come from individuals come from a cross-section of people young and old, and have ranged from $5 to $25,000. We meet one-on-one with potential donors, we apply for grants with foundations, and we have a section on our Web site on a continuous basis encouraging people to donate. In addition, we have set up a module on our Web site that allows donors to make recurring donations quarterly or annually. G) People with significant expertise in our field participate in creating our editions for the public each day. II, SECTION C - LINE 17A. The service that we're using to Efile does not allow line returns so we've used capital letters to separate the sections of text to make it easier to read. Our nonprofit organization meets the facts and circumstances test for the following reasons: A) Our mission is to convey high quality information to the public on subjects useful to individuals and beneficial to society and the world (such as nonprofits, philanthropy, human rights, world affairs, the environment, health, science and education), promote the sharing and discussing of ideas and information, and promote increased voluntarism and philanthropy. In the previous year, we published over 1,800 editions of our websites that do the above, including DailySource.org. Most editions included text, audio clips, photos and videos. B) Our service appeals to a wide swath of the public, and is not limited to a particular community or region. C) Our Web site is entirely free of charge to the public. We do not charge for its use or for registering. In addition, all of our past editions are made available to the public online for free on a continuous basis in our archives section. Nearly all of our site is accessible without registering. The other small portion is accessible for free for any person from the public who wants to spend 1 minute registering. The only reason registration is needed is that a user account is needed so their preferences on the site can be remembered. D) A lot of our support comes through contributions of time that save us very large amounts of money we'd otherwise need to spend on staff. On average we have over 35 volunteers donate over 6,300 volunteer hours a year. The nonprofit association Independent Sector provides national rates for the value of services from volunteers that it updates annually from Bureau of Labor Statics data. For calendar year 2017, they estimated the dollar value of volunteer time is $24.14 per hour: https://independentsector.org/news-post/value-volunteer-time/. Their number comes from the Bureau of Labor Statics average wage figure increased by 12 percent to estimate for fringe benefits such as FICA. Based on their recommended figure, volunteers gave us over $870,000 in support over the last 5 years. The IRS rules do not allow us to list that on the chart, yet it is support from the public. If these hours counted towards support using the Independent Sector's suggested number, then over 50% of our support over the past 5 years came from the public. Even if a much lower figure like $18 an hour is used, it is still means over 40% of our real-life support comes from the public. E) Our board is a mix of men and women from different states and different work backgrounds who represent a broad cross-section of public interests and views. Board member Peter Dunn is a journalist and former small business owner who has volunteered for numerous nonprofits. He is located in Florida. Board member Amy Luchans is Associate Director of Alumni Relations at Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts and was assistant director of student activities at another college. Board member Vincent Winkel was the managing editor of Public Interactive, a division of NPR that provides Web platforms and online news content for over 300 public radio and television stations around the country, and later worked at American Public Media as Web editor and producer, and has worked for CNN, CBS, NPR and the BBC as a reporter. His coverage of multiple diverse topics has earned him major awards from the Overseas Press Club of America, the Associated Press, the Society of Professional Journalists, the International Radio Festival of New York, the Gabriel Awards and more. He is located in Missouri. Board Member Susan Barron is President of the Alumni Association of Lawrence Academy, an independent high school in Groton, Massachusetts. She also volunteers for the Parent-Teachers Association in her home town of Concord, MA. Board member Michael Kolar is a coach and seminar leader, and is based in St. Paul, Minnesota. F) Our nonprofit has an ongoing fund-raising program, and we have received support from numerous different sources. This includes from individuals, foundations and corporations, including Bank of America and Microsoft. Our donations that come from individuals come from a cross-section of people young and old, and have ranged from $5 to $25,000. We meet one-on-one with potential donors and we have a section on our Web site on a continuous basis encouraging people to donate. In addition, we have set up a module on our Web site that allows donors to make recurring donations quarterly or annually. G) People with significant expertise in our field participate in creating our editions for the public each day. To see the people who participate, feel free to visit the \"Our Team\" page on our site. H) We have no advertisements or commercial activity. We have no unrelated business income."}},"ScheduleB":{"attached":false,"required":true},"ScheduleI":{"reported_domestic_org_grants":0,"reported_domestic_individual_grants":0,"reported_domestic_org_grants_program_services":0,"reported_domestic_individual_grants_program_services":0,"total_domestic_grants":0,"total_domestic_program_services":0},"ScheduleF":{"reported_foreign_grants":0,"reported_foreign_grants_program_services":0},"source_xml":"201932279349300808_public.xml"},{"Organization":{"Hours":[0],"Total Compensation":[0],"Direct compensation":[0],"Other compensation":[0]},"Basic":{"mission":"We do the following: 1) Publish websites providing information to the public on various topics including, but not limited to, education, the environment, human rights, modern-day slavery, poverty, international development, health, psychology and science. 2) Encourage increased philanthropy and voluntarism, raise awareness about non-profit organizations and receive donations to support them. 3) Give individuals ideas and tools to support nonprofits that they want to help; and give nonprofits ideas and tools to engage with their supporters and develop new supporters. 4) Host online discussions for the public and publish email newsletters with information related to various topics including the ones mentioned above.","primary_activities":"Published over 1,200 editions of information on subjects of interest and use to individuals and to the public, including philanthropy, nonprofits, human rights, world affairs, the environment, global poverty, science, health, technology and education. II, SECTION C - LINE 17A. The service that we're using to Efile does not allow line returns so we've used capital letters to separate the sections of text to make it easier to read. Our nonprofit meets the facts and circumstances test for the following reasons: A) Our mission is to publish websites providing information to the public on various topics including, but not limited to, education, the environment, human rights, modern-day slavery, global poverty, international development, health, psychology and science; Encourage increased philanthropy and voluntarism, raise awareness about non-profit organizations and receive donations to support them; Give individuals ideas and tools to support nonprofits that they want to help; and give nonprofits ideas and tools to engage with their supporters and develop new supporters; Host online discussions for the public and publish email newsletters with information related to various topics including the ones mentioned above. In the previous year, we published more than 1,000 editions of our websites that do the above, including DailySource.org. Most editions included text, audio clips, photos and videos. B) Our service appeals to a wide swath of the public, and is not limited to a particular community or region. We also do not focus on appealing to any particular age group, gender or race. C) Our websites are entirely free of charge to the public. We do not charge for visiting the sites, nor for registering. In addition, all of our past editions are made available to the public online for free on a continuous basis in our archive sections. Nearly all parts of all of our websites are accessible without registering. The other portion is accessible for free for any person from the public who wants to spend a minute registering. D) A lot of our support comes through contributions of time that save us very large amounts of money we'd otherwise need to spend on staff. On average we have over 38 volunteers donate over 6,300 volunteer hours a year. The nonprofit association Independent Sector provides national rates for the value of services from volunteers that it updates annually from Bureau of Labor Statics data. For calendar year 2017, they estimated the dollar value of volunteer time is $28.54 per hour: https://independentsector.org/blog/independent-sector-releases-new-value-of-volunteer-time-of-28-54-per-hour/. Their number comes from the Bureau of Labor Statics average wage figure increased by 12 percent to estimate for fringe benefits such as FICA. Based on their recommended figure, volunteers gave us over $800,000 in support over the last 5 years. The IRS rules do not allow us to list that on the chart, yet it is support from the public. If these hours counted towards support using the Independent Sector's suggested number, then over 50% of our support over the past 5 years came from the public. Even if a much lower figure like $18 an hour is used, it still means over 40% of our real-life support comes from the public. E) Our board is a mix of men and women from different states and different work backgrounds who represent a broad cross-section of public interests and views. Board member Peter Dunn is a journalist, a former consultant for Fortune 500 executives at companies such as Google and Fidelity Investments and former business owner who has volunteered for numerous nonprofits. He is located in Florida. Board member Amy Luchans has 11 years of experience in the Internet and web services sectors, and has also been Associate Director of Alumni and University Relations at Brandeis University, Assistant Director for Student Activities at Worcester Polytechnic Institute, a publications editor, an instructional designer, and a marketing and technical business consultant. Board member Michael Kolar is a personal/professional coach and seminar leader, and is based in St. Paul, MN. Board Member Susan Barron is President of the Alumni Association of Lawrence Academy, an independent high school in Groton, MA. She also volunteers for the Parent-Teachers Association in her home town of Concord, MA. Board member Ruthann Smith is a key part of championship teams competing at the Olympics and world championships in horse riding and showing. She has written books and created videos to teach other people horsemanship and how to best care for their horses. She also has her own line of innovative horse care products that are popular in the horse world. She's been featured on NPR and on TV networks like CBS. She is skilled at marketing, branding, communications and other areas. She is based in Florida. F) Our nonprofit has an ongoing fund-raising program, and we have received support from numerous different sources. This includes from individuals, foundations and corporations, including Bank of America and Microsoft. Our donations that come from individuals come from a cross-section of people young and old, and have ranged from $5 to $25,000. We meet one-on-one with potential donors and we have a section on our websites on a continuous basis encouraging people to donate. G) People with significant expertise in our fields participate in creating our editions for the public each day. For calendar year 2023, they estimated the dollar value of volunteer time is $31.8 per hour: https://independentsector.org/blog/independent-sector-releases-new-value-of-volunteer-time-of-31-80-per-hour/. Their number is based on the Bureau of Labor Statics average wage figure increased by 12 percent to estimate for fringe benefits such as FICA. The service that we're using to Efile does not allow line returns so we've used capital letters to separate the sections of text to make it easier to read. Our nonprofit organization meets the facts and circumstances test for the following reasons: A) Our mission is to publish websites providing information to the public on various topics including, but not limited to, education, modern-day slavery, global poverty, international development, health, the environment, human rights, psychology and science; Encourage increased philanthropy and voluntarism, raise awareness about non-profit organizations and receive donations to support them; Give individuals ideas and tools to support nonprofits that they want to help; and give nonprofits ideas and tools to engage with their supporters and develop new supporters; In the previous year, we published over 800 editions of our websites that do the above, including DailySource.org. Most editions included text, audio clips, photos and videos. B) Our service appeals to a wide swath of the public, and is not limited to a particular community or region. We also do not focus on appealing to any particular age group, gender or race. C) Our websites are entirely free of charge to the public. We do not charge for visiting the sites, nor for registering. In addition, our past editions are made available to the public online for free on a continuous basis in our archive sections. Nearly all parts of all of our websites are accessible without registering. The other portion is accessible for free for any person from the public who wants to spend a minute registering. D) A lot of our support comes through contributions of time that save us very large amounts of money we'd otherwise need to spend on staff. On average we have over 40 volunteers donate over 6,000 volunteer hours a year. The nonprofit association Independent Sector provides national rates for the value of services from volunteers that it updates annually from Bureau of Labor Statics data. For calendar year 2023, they estimated the dollar value of volunteer time is $31.8 per hour: https://independentsector.org/blog/independent-sector-releases-new-value-of-volunteer-time-of-31-80-per-hour/. Their number is based on the Bureau of Labor Statics average wage figure increased by 12 percent to estimate for fringe benefits such as FICA. Based on their recommended figure, volunteers gave us over $954,000 in support over the last 5 years. The IRS rules do not allow us to list that on the chart, yet it is support from the public. If these hours counted towards support using the Independent Sector's suggested number, then over 50% of our support over the past 5 years came from the public. Even if a much lower figure like $24 an hour is used, it still means over 40% of our real-life support comes from the public. E) Our board is a mix of men and women from different states and different work backgrounds who represent a broad cross-section of public interests and views. Board member Peter Dunn is a journalist, a former consultant for Fortune 500 executives at companies such as Google and Fidelity Investments and former business owner who has volunteered for numerous nonprofits. He is located in Florida. Board member Amy Luchans has 12 years of experience in the Internet, website services and online learning sectors, and has also been Associate Director of Alumni and University Relations at Brandeis University, Assistant Director for Student Activities at Worcester Polytechnic Institute, a publications editor, an instructional designer, and a marketing and technical business consultant. Board member Michael Kolar is a personal/professional coach and seminar leader, and is based in St. Paul, MN. Board Member Susan Barron is a small-business owner and President of the Alumni Association of Lawrence Academy, an independent high school in Groton, MA. She also volunteers for the Parent-Teachers Association in her home town of Concord, MA. Board member Ruthann Smith is a key part of championship teams competing at the Olympics and world championships in horse riding and showing. She has written books and created videos to teach other people horsemanship and how to best care for their horses. She also has her own line of innovative horse care products that are popular in the horse world. She's been featured on NPR and on TV networks like CBS. She is skilled at marketing, branding, communications and other areas. She is based in Florida. F) Our nonprofit has an ongoing fund-raising program, and we have received support from numerous different sources. This includes from individuals, foundations and corporations, including Bank of America and Microsoft. Our donations that come from individuals come from a cross-section of people young and old, and have ranged from $3 to $25,000. We meet one-on-one with potential donors and we have a section on our websites on a continuous basis encouraging people to donate. In addition, we have set up modules on our websites that allow donors to make recurring donations quarterly or annually. G) People with significant expertise in our fields participate in creating our editions for the public each day. To see the people who participate, feel free to visit the \"Our Team\" page on our site. H) We have no advertisements or commercial activity. We have no unrelated business income."}},"ScheduleB":{"attached":true,"required":true},"Ratings":{"Mission Deployment Rate":{"score":0.6278398631877724},"Program Expense Ratio":{"score":0.8988682127482294},"Fundraising Efficiency":{"score":271.02272727272725,"percentile":0.9311715711744052},"Filing Consistency Score":{"score":1.0},"Grant Itemization Coverage":{"score":null},"Independent Voting Board Pct":{"score":0.8},"Operating Margin":{"score":-1.835092195291662,"percentile":0.05050484609074818},"Operating Reserve Ratio":{"score":79.26093598111373,"percentile":0.9857925917723271},"Liabilities to Assets Ratio":{"score":0.0006465086779335551,"percentile":0.593787498255895},"Officer Compensation Ratio":{"score":null,"percentile":null},"Program Expense Growth":{"score":-0.07430348254970343,"percentile":0.19691652656007283},"Revenue Growth":{"score":0.024674764482694587,"percentile":0.47624501896163396},"Asset Growth":{"score":0.1250411676404286,"percentile":0.7522841022542168},"Foreign Oversight Score":{"score":null},"Major-Donor Itemization":{"score":1.0},"Related-Party Transparency":{"score":null},"Pay-Setting Controls":{"score":1.0,"weight":5,"atoms":{"Compensation committee":{"value":true},"Independent compensation consultant":{"value":true},"Form 990 of other organizations reviewed":{"value":true},"Written employment contract":{"value":true},"Compensation survey or study":{"value":true},"Board or committee approval":{"value":true}}},"Governance Policy Score":{"score":0.4444444444444444,"weight":5,"atoms":{"Conflict of interest policy":{"value":false},"Whistle blower policy":{"value":false},"Document retention policy":{"value":true},"Compensation process for CEO":{"value":true},"Compensation process for other employees":{"value":true},"Form 990 provided to governing body":{"value":false},"Minutes of governing body":{"value":true},"Audit committee":{"value":false},"Independent audit financial statements":{"value":false}}},"Categories":{"Financial Efficiency":{"score":0.754039726712629,"weight":45},"Transparency & Controls":{"score":1.0,"weight":20},"Accountability":{"score":0.6518518518518519,"weight":14},"Sustainability":{"score":0.4347051149399608,"weight":13},"Growth":{"score":0.41972143865952616,"weight":8}},"Overall Score":{"score":0.7206665163148993,"percentile":0.40281583982618835}},"source_xml":"202530769349300433_public.xml"},"sector":"Arts, Culture, and Humanities","donation_categories":[],"zakat_policy":null},"error":null}
