In its seventh and eighth year of operation (june 2009 through december 2010) adventium labs devoted continued effort to program-specific research activities, while working aggressively to ensure the continued growth of its technology base. Adventium labs worked on major federal contracts during this period, including work for air force research labs, defense advanced research projects agency (darpa), and others. Also as part of the development activities, adventium labs briefed or submitted proposals to a variety of research organizations including: darpa, us army, office of the secretary of defense, and national institutes of standards and technology (nist), national science foundation (nsf), the air force, and others. Adventium labs continues to actively support the academic and non-profit communities in the region. Adventium labs' leaders sit on the advisory boards of the university of minnesota's computer science and the engineering and computer engineering departments. Adventium labs employees took on the role of advisors for a team of students at metro state university working on their capstone project. Dr. Bonnie holub, former ceo of adventium labs, was recognized with a distinguished alumni award from the university of minnesota computer science department for both her business achievements and community involvement. Dr. Holub supported the minnesota department of employment and economic development effort to prepare a report on a science and technology initiative for the minnesota legislature. Mr. Brian isle, current ceo of adventium labs, is a senior fellow at the university of minnesota's technology leadership institute, teaching part time for the university's master of science in security technologies (msst) program. Mr. Isle's teaching assignment leverages and makes available to students, technologies developed on programs for department of homeland security and darpa. Mr. Isle supported supported several university of minnesota conferences dealing with network security with focus on the underlying technology for smart grid. Mr. Isle also sits on the board of the fbi-sponsored infragard organization which is focused on protection of the region's critical infrastructure.for the fourth year, adventium labs sponsored the minnesota collegiate cyber defense competition at alexandria technical college, march 12-14, 2010. This event is a competition that tests higher education students' depth of understanding and operational competency in managing the challenges inherent in protecting an enterprise network infrastructure and business information systems.adventium labs continued its internship program with local and national universities. In the last 2 years, adventium employed ten interns and students from the university of minnesota, john hopkins university, and the university of nebraska-lincoln. Adventium labs is a strong supporter of stem (science technology engineering and math) in grade schools. Five adventium labs employees again worked as coaches and judges for the minnesota first lego league tournaments. Statewide, over 364 teams with over 3,000 fourth through ninth grade students competed in the lego robotics program. There were nine regional tournaments in the state of minnesota, as well as a state-wide final competition.
