THESE EXHIBITS ARE: TIME CAPSULE THE TIME CAPSULE IS A PERMANENT EXHIBIT THAT HOLDS NEARLY 70 OBJECTS FROM THE 1900'S AND THE YEAR 2000. THIS EXHIBIT AIMS TO SHOW VISITORS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN WOMEN'S PERSONAL OBJECTS FROM THE EARLY 20TH CENTURY AND THE EARLY 21ST CENTURY AND THE AMAZING PROGRESS AND CHANGE THAT HAS BEEN MADE THROUGHOUT THE CENTURY. THESE OBJECTS INCLUDE CLEANING TOOLS SUCH AS AN OLD PUSH VACUUM AND A MODERN DAY HAND HELD VACUUM, AS WELL AS MAKE UP, SHOES, STALKING, NECESSITIES, INVITATIONS AND BUSINESS CARDS, MUSIC DEVICES SUCH AS A PHONOGRAPH AND A HAND HELD COMPACT DISC PLAYER, CAMERAS, AND DOLLS. ALMOST ALL OF THE OBJECTS IN THIS CASE WERE PURCHASED BY THE EXHIBIT DESIGN FIRM WHIRLWIND AND COMPANY IN 2000. MILESTONES IN WOMEN'S HISTORY MILESTONES IN WOMEN'S HISTORY IS A COMPREHENSIVE TIMELINE OF WOMEN'S HISTORY FROM THE 1500S TO THE YEAR 2000. AMONGST THE EXTENSIVE WALL TEXT OF FACTS ARE SMALL VIGNETTES FILLED WITH HISTORICAL OBJECTS THAT CORRESPOND TO THE SURROUNDING ERA IN HISTORY. THIS EXHIBIT HOLDS BOTH OBJECTS FROM THE WOMEN'S MUSEUM PERMANENT COLLECTION AND OBJECTS ON LOAN FROM OTHER MUSEUMS, INSTITUTIONS AND PRIVATE LENDERS. MOST OF THE OBJECTS OWNED BY THE WOMEN'S MUSEUM WERE PURCHASED BY THE DESIGN FIRM WHIRLWIND & COMPANY IN 2000; HOWEVER THERE ARE A SMALL NUMBER OF DONATIONS. THE OBJECTS CHOSEN FOR THIS EXHIBIT RANGE FROM THE 17TH CENTURY TO THE 21ST CENTURY AND VARY IN MEDIUM. THERE ARE BULLETS FROM THE CIVIL WAR, BOOKS, AND EPHEMERA FROM THE WOMEN'S SUFFRAGE MOVEMENT, COUPONS FROM THE DEPRESSION ERA, CREDIT CARDS, AND PHOTOGRAPHS OF WOMEN FROM EVERY ERA. THESE OBJECTS ADD A VISUAL ELEMENT TO THE EXHIBIT AND SHARE WITH PEOPLE TANGIBLE PIECES OF HISTORY. UNFORGETTABLE WOMEN THE EXHIBIT UNFORGETTABLE WOMEN REPRESENTS 36 WOMEN, THEIR ACHIEVEMENTS, AND THEIR PERSONAL LIFE OBJECTS. EACH CASE THAT MAKES UP THE EXHIBIT HOLDS OBJECTS FROM THREE DIFFERENT WOMEN. FILLED WITH OVER A HUNDRED OBJECTS, THERE ARE ONLY 17 THAT ARE OWNED BY THE WOMEN'S MUSEUM AND OF THAT 10 WERE DONATIONS. THE MAJORITY OF THE OBJECTS THAT FILL THIS EXHIBIT ARE ON LOAN TO THE MUSEUM. THE OBJECTS ARE SIGNIFICANT BECAUSE EACH OBJECT GIVES THE VISITOR A VIEW INTO THE WOMAN'S PERSONAL LIFE AND HELPS EXPLAIN HER ACCOMPLISHMENTS AND EMBELLISHES HER BIOGRAPHY THAT IS ON THE TEXT PANEL BELOW THE CASE. MYTH MAZE THE MYTH MAZE PERMANENT EXHIBIT IS ONE THAT IS MADE UP OF A LARGE PERCENTAGE OF OBJECTS OWNED BY THE WOMEN'S MUSEUM AND SOME OBJECTS THAT ARE ON LOAN. THE MYTH MAZE SERVES TO BREAK THE STEREOTYPES OF SOCIETY AND SHARES INTERESTING FACTS ABOUT GENDER ROLES. AMONGST THE COLUMNS OF THE MYTH MAZE WALLS ARE CASES FILLED WITH OBJECTS. ONE CASE HAS THE MAKINGS OF A TUPPERWARE PARTY, WHILE ANOTHER REPRESENT THE FEMALE FIREFIGHTERS, ANOTHER DISPLAYS THE CONSTRAINTS OF CORSETS, AND YET ANOTHER IS FILLED WITH BABY OBJECTS WITH A CLEAR DEFINITION OF BLUE FOR BOYS AND PINK FOR GIRLS. THESE ARE OBJECTS OF OUR EVERYDAY LIVES AND FROM MANY ERAS. THE VISITOR CAN ACTUALLY SEE THE SOCIAL BARRIERS AS THEY ARE MADE AND REPRESENTED THROUGH MATERIAL PRODUCTS. THESE OBJECTS ALLOW THE VISITOR NOT ONLY TO READ ABOUT GENDER MYTHS BUT ALSO SEE ALL THE WAYS THEY EFFECT LIFESTYLE. SPORTS AND ADVENTURE SPORTS AND ADVENTURE IS MADE UP OF ALL LOANED OBJECTS. SOME OBJECTS WERE PURCHASED FOR THIS EXHIBIT CASE BUT THEY REMAIN IN OUR COLLECTIONS STORAGE ROOM. ORGANIZED MOVEMENTS THE ORGANIZED MOVEMENTS EXHIBIT IS DEDICATED TO REPRESENTING WOMEN'S ORGANIZATIONS ACROSS AMERICA AND THROUGH HISTORY. COLLECTIONS STORAGE ROOM THE COLLECTION STORAGE FACILITY HOLDS HUNDREDS OF OBJECTS THAT THE WOMEN'S MUSEUM DOES NOT HAVE ON DISPLAY. IT STORES THESE OBJECTS BY BEST MUSEUM PRACTICES AND STANDARDS TO ENSURE THE LONGEVITY OF THEM FOR FUTURE GENERATIONS.
