Ced partnered with the city of durham to mobilize volunteers in 13 participating neighborhoods, training volunteers to go door-to-door to reduce household energy consumption. 71 volunteers taught bee workshops to 594 of their neighbors. 718 households have asked for help through the city program to obtain professional contractors to perform retrofits which involve sealing leaks, adding insulation, installing efficient fixtures, etc. As of the end of 2011, 345 of these homes had been serviced.
