From PreK to teens (with teen Credit Flex option), and now announcing Journey for adults, we offer after-school and weekend classes, in ten-week segments, with an end event of the students curating their own artists' exhibition. Each ten-week series is a theme-based approach to building knowledge about and through the arts in a studio environment. (2) The GSVA Media Studio (photography and filmmaking) is an after-school, digital learning center in which teen students find out how to bring design thinking and visual storytelling to life. Students bring their own ideas and posed problems to the table and GSVA helps guide their vision through photography and/or filmmaking. We provide the tools, technology and creative support to venture into the world of digital media. (3) Our workshops are aligned with our Journey Program, but are offered in shorter segments with the aim of inspiring and feeding creativity. We offer workshops in media such as photography, ceramics and painting. Workshops are available for kids, adults and teacher professional development. Quantitative measures: 746 hours of educational instructions, serving 401 individuals of all ages. One documentary film, 2006 pieces of art produced.\n\nConsulting and Partnering with Teachers and Administrators of Schools and Other Institutions with Educational Missions: The Goal is to inform current and future teachers regarding the benefits of quality arts-integration /dual discipline education in the classroom. Then, together, through collaboration, we design curricula and implement them in live classrooms. Our Educational Consulting and Partnership is an outreach program extended to teachers and administrators in numerous school settings throughout Ohio. Integration activities bring high-quality arts learning (including arts pedagogies) to teachers of content areas (including science, math, and foreign languages) across the curriculum. GSVA is proud of the progress made in its 3rd year of consulting and collaborating with The Ohio State University - Project Aspire and Columbus City Schools on quality 21st century K-12 teaching and education. GSVA works with teachers to understand the nature of the discipline and together co-design a dual discipline curriculum integrated to promote creativity and meaningful learning. Through aesthetically based, experiential learning, students will construct understandings of the subject matter at hand through their own unique worlds. Students learn to think critically, work in multidisciplinary collaborative teams, develop unique points of view, practice curatorial skills, and approach all aspects of the discipline with a creative mindset. Aspire is a 5 yr grant from the U.S.. Dept of Ed. Quantitative Measures: 3222 hours of education curriculum design and/or training; 3 DVD slideshow publications; 3000+ pieces of art produced; 950 hours in Columbus City Schools and The Ohio State University ( 780 students, 10 teachers, 4 professors); 1588 educator and artist hours dedicated to Granville Schools prototype (180 students, 2 teachers); 504 hours to Newark Schools (200 students, 2 teachers)- Newark benefited from the Granville prototype; * 180 hours to Youngstown Liberty Schools ( 145 students, 8 teachers).\n\nFor Everyone: Free Public Events and exhibitions - At the GSVA location and other community locations throughout central Ohio. We believe in life-long intergenerational learning opportunities for central Ohio citizens. First, Family Time workshops began in November of 2011. Our goal was to support our community of families with a meaningful experience to create memories through art, giving families an opportunity to connect with each other and build on their relationships. Our Educational Consulting and Partnership is an outreach program extended to teachers and administrators in numerous school settings throughout Ohio. Integration activities bring high-quality arts learning (including arts pedagogies) to teachers of content areas (including science, math, and foreign languages) across the curriculum. GSVA is proud of the progress made in its 3rd year of consulting and collaborating with The Ohio State University - Project Aspire and Columbus City Schools on quality 21st century K-12 teaching and education. Through aesthetically based, experiential learning, students will construct understandings of the subject matter at hand through their own unique worlds. We serve students of all ages from preschoolers to senior citizens at times that work for them and generally at the GSVA location. The Goal is quality creativity development and education through a variety of Programs. (1) The Journey Program is a three part chronological series composed of: GSVA Journey, The Art of the Self-Portrait; GSVA Journey, DreamWorlds; and GSVA Journey360°. From PreK to teens (with teen Credit Flex option), and now announcing Journey for adults, we offer after-school and weekend classes, in ten-week segments, with an end event of the students curating their own artists' exhibition. Each ten-week series is a theme-based approach to building knowledge about and through the arts in a studio environment. (2) The GSVA Media Studio (photography and filmmaking) is an after-school, digital learning center in which teen students find out how to bring design thinking and visual storytelling to life. Students bring their own ideas and posed problems to the table and GSVA helps guide their vision through photography and/or filmmaking. We provide the tools, technology and creative support to venture into the world of digital media. (3) Our workshops are aligned with our Journey Program, but are offered in shorter segments with the aim of inspiring and feeding creativity. We offer workshops in media such as photography, ceramics and painting. Workshops are available for kids, adults and teacher professional development.
