involves classroom work study field trips and community projects at CCCC and the DC area This program officially begun on October 14 2006 and we have selected 15 highly talented and motivated students The program meets once a week during the school year on Saturdays for 2 hours During the summer the program met once a week for 3 hours All successful participants of the fall spring and summer program were awarded a free trip to China in 2007 The China Exchange Program is intende d to be a 3 year course that will prepare them for the AP Chinese Language exam This program is on hold in 2009 until new funding is secured Chinese Mandarin Language Classes The emphasis in the Chinese Mandarin Language Class offered at CCCC is on simple conversational skills The Class is designed for the person who has little or no prior experience with learning Chinese English as a Second Language This is a community service program that provides free English classes to immigrants hoping to increase their proficiency in English through speaking lis tening reading and writing Many of the classes are job related or for use of English in everyday situations Chinese Calligraphy Chinese Calligraphy is o ne of the highest forms of Chinese art Chinese Calligraphy is used to decorate and accent articles of everyday use In this Calligraphy Class students can learn step by step instructions on how to use the brush and learn the essentials basic brush strokes and characters All materials are provided by the Center The Class is open to anyone who shows an interest in this art Other CulturalEducational Programs August Moon Festival Chinese New Year Dragon Boat Races Asian American Heritage Month etc The Center provides special events cultural and educational programs throughout
