The grant provided 133 free screening mammograms to qualified women who were uninsured or underinsured for a total of $19,285.00. In addition to mammograms, the program provided an educational component \"tell your mom, save a life\", that raised awareness of breast cancer in the high school population, as well as the community.\n\nNew program service ------------------- feed the children, a program that provided food for at-risk children during the 2014 christmas and new year's school recess. We formed committees, comprised of teachers and volunteers in the targeted communities. The major donation came from the recipient of the blanche w. Grady community service award's distribution. Financial support was also provided by individuals, churches in the affected area, and area businesses. We purchased the major portion of the food from second harvest food bank, a large regional food bank. Deliveries were made by volunteers on the day the school was dismissed for the holidays. This program supported 138 children in 49 families and nine elderly individuals, who were in need. (budget attached) this program was expanded in may 2015, through a large fundraising event, derby day on main. It was presented to raise funds for all at-risk children in greeneville and greene county, during the summer school recess. The event was staged in concert with the kentucky derby and the donors came in attire appropriate for the derby: large hats and bowties and seersucker suits. Through funds raised at derby day, we partnered with second harvest food bank and provided one meal a day to children at nine sites in greene county. Second harvest has a converted school bus, the lunch express, that was used to visit the sites. Also, three elementary schools provided a summer educational program at the school sites and these children were given breakfast, lunch and a snack. The foundation provided healthcare scholarships totaling $51,390.85. Desired degrees range from lpn to rn to bsn. Included in these disbursements is a number of conferences, in-services, etc. For our employees, the hearts with hands employee emergency fund supports laughlin memorial hospital employees in need. The foundation supported 23 cases during the year for a total of $11,865. Susan g. Komen for the cure - breast cancer awareness. An emphasis was placed on helping 13 patients with transportation and other needed items at $1,650.
