an entrepreneurial mindset that they will carry with them well beyond the classroom. through participation in our program, students recognize and develop their innate aptitudes and interests as educators explore alongside students in their classrooms how to apply those talents in society for mutual benefit. we also provide professional development opportunities and experiences to educators, as well as support them in developing leave-to-learn experiences for their students, enabling both educators and students to continue to develop their knowledge and skills, apply their learnings, and develop a broader understanding of how they can create value for themselves and the communities in which they live. form 990, part iii, line 4a the growth trajectory continued when it came to classes and students, as well - they were up 64% and 28%, respectively. events took center stage during the summer of 2018: 19 student participants pitched their business ideas for the opportunity to earn a piece of the $20,000 at stake at the big idea; the first annual ye summit brought together more than 250 top ye students from across the country for a week-long conference that included keynote speakers, engaging activities, tours and networking; yeedu,the annual educator conference, brought nearly 250 teachers together for professional development and training; and ye's biennial fundraising gala, biz bang, raised a record $1.6 million from its over 900 attendees! throughout the fiscal year, ye maintained its focus on supporting educators in a variety of ways. one major area of support
