u of o, lewis & clark, osu graduate school, mit, odot, kaiser, and others. in addition, beam is honored each year to partner with our local chapters of the historically black greek fraternities, and sororities. form 990-ez, part iii, line 29:beam was honored to host our 4th annual mp2ed conference on january 7, 2019, at reed college for middle school youth and their families. during this event we engaged over 85 students, 10 parents, and 6 educators from 4 districts in the portland area in multiple sessions and interactive workshops where they learned practical strategies for optimizing the high school experience through strategic planning and parental advocacy. participants learned how to make effective use of the school and community-based resources to help them to see their long-term aspirations. the partnership with reed college will be expanding to spring and summer break for 40 students who will apply with beam following this event. form 990-ez, part iii, line 30:on may 19, 2019, beam partnered with buf, and the divine 9 (black greek fraternities, and sororities) to host our annual black baccalaureate for graduating seniors. 46 students registered from many high schools across the portland metro area ie: tigard, de la salle north catholic, jefferson, westview, david douglas, union, southridge, aloha, and even pcc. as these students prepared to walk the stage they were escorted by 6 men from the coalition of black men to illustrate the vital role of black men in the family and community. before they received their kente cloth there was a performance by the kukatonon african dancers, a group of girls between the ages 6 - 12 to illustrate to the group what they too, can accomplish in their future. form 990-ez, part 1, line 19this return reflects corrected
