the board of directors) came together to create an event that combined charitable giving with networking, fun, and competition. the end goal was to be able to charge a company entry fee that would not be a deterrent to participation for growing companies while at the same time being able to cover the cost of the event and be able to give sizable donations to the selected charities. roughly half of the money collected via entry fees and sponsorships is able to be donated to charities once the expense of the event is covered. once the concept proved to generate the charitable donations and buzz
