The concert was held at the beautiful St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Cerrillos, New Mexico. Madi opened the event with a traditional Shinto chant called the Amatsunorito (Heavenly Prayer). Through the concert, her beautiful singing was accompanied by the powerful and sacred sounds of taiko drums (Koji Nakamura and Crestone Kaminari Taiko) , koto (Yukiko Matsuyama), piano (John Rangel), and poetry (Timothy P. McLaughlin.) The music was deeply felt by all in attendance and universally understood as a great prayer of compassion, healing, and love for the people and lands of Japan.\n\nFUNAKOSHI SHOTOKAN KARATE ASSOCIATION WORLD KARATE CHAMPIONSHIPS On September 15, 2012 KASA participated at this event with a booth accepting donations to continue our mission in Japan. We provided kindness bracelets (with Japanese & American flag) to the attendees.\n\nArt Program Overview: KASA: Kindness America-Sendai Alliance, Inc launched an arts program for the residents of the Tohoku region. The program will provide residents of temporary housing communities with supplies to create Japanese cultural artwork, including calligraphy, umbrellas, lacquer boxes, handbags, weaving baskets, bracelets, and crocheted or knitted goods.
