This provides a safe and interesting environment each day, right in the school that the children attend, while parents are working. Almost 1000 kids participate in this program; many paticipants benefit from fee assistance, which reduces the cost to the working parents who could not otherwise afford safe care for their children. The association also provides school days off programs during the school year. Additionally the ymca staff are ready to provide day care in the branches when there are unforeseen closings due to weather or other events. The before and after school care program, known as the safe n sound program, also continues in the summer months in a day camp format, retaining many of the school year staff for continuity for the children. As during the school year, the focus is a safe, stimulating, fun atmosphere where kids can grow in the y's core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility. The united way organizations in aurora and naperville assist the association in these endeavors as do community businesses and individuals.also, licensed all day daycare is available at our aurora family ymca. This program provides affordable care for infants up to school age. Fee assistance is available for participants in these programs. In all of its child care ventures, the ymca focus is on creating a safe environment where kids can learn and grow, surrounded by positive role models.\n\nYouth programsto further its exempt purpose, the association provides a wide variety of experiences for kids. Nearly 500 fathers come together with their kids in the y guides program, which furnishes opportunities for projects, trips, and social activities. The youth and government program, in partnership with the high schools, gives roughly 200 students the opportunity to learn about government, and begin to participate in the democratic process. A naperville youth outreach program for kids in an especially troubled neighborhood provides the resident kids with care when school is out, and broadens their world through educational field trips, artistic events and presentations; this is a grant funded/ymca funded program so that no one is asked to pay.our computer education center at an aurora low income housing development provides the resident children with computer training. This is a grant funded/ymca funded initiative; like the outreach program in naperville, no one is asked to pay. We are partnering with other organizations in the community to expand this model into other aurora locations.also, a number of summer day camps are run under the youth category. These camps are run by the various ymca branches and focus on formats with a specific purpose such as a variety of field trip experiences, sport specialties, and outdoor nature skills. Preschool camps also furnish younger children with outdoor experiences. The association's expanding teen programs most recently have provided game tournaments, college visits, leadership forums, and other socializing events. As in all the association's programs, fee assistance is available for those in need.\n\nNon-competitive aquaticsthe association believes that learning to swim and being able to enjoy and be safe in water activities is an excellent way to strengthen individuals physically, mentally, and spiritually. These learning opportunities are available for all ages, beginning from when a parent starts to play in the water with his or her baby, to adults learning to swim for the first time, to seniors who see water excercise as a way to stay fit and independent. These experiences are available in groups and in private settings. The four core values of caring, respect, honesty, and responsibility are taught along side the skills required for swimming. The association provides over 10,000 swimming opportunities each year; this number does not include swim team participation, which also integrates skills and our core values. As for all our programs, fee assistance is available for those unable to pay.\n\nOther program services include preschool, health enhancement, physical department, competitive aquatics, and other program support services.","year":2010,"name":"HERITAGE YMCA GROUP","phone":"6305274007","website":"WWW.HERITAGEYMCA.ORG","type":"990","principal_officer":"THOMAS BEERNTSEN","year_formation":1946,"state_legal_domicile":"IL","total_volunteers":1574,"tax_period_begin":"2010-01-01T00:00:00","tax_period_end":"2010-12-31T00:00:00","address":"34 SOUTH WASHINGTON STREET, NAPERVILLE, IL, 60540, USA","city":"NAPERVILLE","state":"IL","country":"USA","zip_code":"60540"},"Governance":{"501c3 determination":true,"Number of voting members":38,"Number of independent voting members":38,"Number of employees total":892,"Total Gross UBI":0,"Net unrelated business taxable income":0,"Number of employees":892,"Prohibited tax shelter transactions":false,"Taxable party notification":false,"Funds to pay premiums":false,"Premiums Paid":false,"Family or business relationship":false,"Delegation of management duties":false,"Conflict of interest policy":true,"Whistle blower policy":true,"Compensation process for CEO":true,"Compensation process for other employees":true,"Changes to organizing documents":true,"Material diversion or misuse":false,"Members or stockholders":false,"Election of board members":false,"Decisions subject to approval":false,"Minutes of governing body":true,"Local chapters":false,"Form 990 provided to governing body":true,"Document retention policy":true,"Investment in joint venture":false,"Independent audit financial statements":true,"Consolidated audit financial statements":false,"Accountant compile or review":false,"Financial statements audited by independent accountant":true,"Audit committee":true,"Federal grant audit required":false,"Political activities":false,"Donor advised funds":false,"Conservation easements":false,"Collections of art":false,"School":false,"Hospital":false,"Foreign activities":false,"Foreign office":false,"Gaming":false,"Fundraising activities":true,"Professional fundraising":true,"Loan to officer or DQP":false,"Grant to related person":false,"Business relationship through family member":false,"Business relationship with organization":false,"Transfers to exempt non-charitable organization":false},"Revenues":{"value":20523260,"Contributions":{"value":9320609,"Other contributions":9300609,"Fundraising revenue":20000},"Program revenue":{"value":10906162,"Total revenue":{"value":10906162,"VARIOUS":10906162},"Unrelated business revenue":0},"Investment income":{"value":148603,"Investment income total":11828,"Net investment gain":136775},"Other revenues":{"value":147886,"Other total":127313,"Net rental income":44273,"Net income from fundraising events":-23700}},"Expenses":{"value":12211690,"Grant expense":{"value":323318,"Grants to domestic individuals":323318},"Total professional fundraising expense":{"value":16415,"Fundraising professional":16415},"Benefits paid to members":{"value":0},"Salaries":{"value":6863708,"Current officers":317219,"Other salaries and wages":5306296,"Other employee benefits":830282,"Payroll taxes":409911},"Other expenses":{"value":5008249,"Legal":45724,"Accounting":31131,"Other services":205676,"Office expenses":449912,"Occupancy":816179,"Conferences and meetings":52830,"Interest":279912,"Payments to affiliates":111348,"Depreciation and depletion":651880,"Insurance":254252,"Itemized Expenses":{"value":2070070,"VARIOUS":2070070},"All other expenses":39335}},"Assets":{"value":19011041,"Non-interest bearing cash":37610,"Savings and temp cash investments":7467410,"Pledges and grants receivable":1479658,"Accounts receivable":230272,"Land, building, equipment":9185921,"Investments publicly traded":518872,"Other assets":91298},"Liabilities":{"value":6650300,"Accounts payable, accrued":476699,"Deferred, revenue":50802,"Tax exempt bond liabilities":6100000,"Other liabilities":22799},"Fund balance":{"value":12360741},"Form990Details":{"program_service_accomplishments":[{"description":"CHILD CAREDURING THE SCHOOL YEAR, THE ASSOCIATION PROVIDES BEFORE AND AFTER SCHOOL CARE IN NAPERVILLE COMMUNITY SCHOOL DISTRICT 203 AND INDIAN PRAIRIE SCHOOL DISTRICT 204, AND IN SEVERAL SCHOOLS IN WEST AURORA SCHOOL DISTRICT 129. prairie school district 204, and in several schools in west aurora school district 129.
