led by each community. The national and district fambul tok staff work with communities to create opportunities for confession, forgiveness, and ongoing reconciliation. Our biggest accomplishment has been to initiate reconciliation processes through reconciliation ceremonies. We have successfully initiated these ceremonies and follow up activities to sustain the reconciliation process in four war-torn districts in over 120 communities in sierra leone. These reconciliation ceremonies have involved over 35,000 participants and hundreds of perpetrators offering confessions and seeking forgiveness and victims forgiving them.the reconciliation process continues with several kinds of activities:the creation of gender-balanced, volunteer community reconciliation committees to deal with local conflicts as they emerge; the launch, growth, and prosperity of community farms called \"peace farms\"; and youth soccer matches between villages and sections. Our staff works to train and support the local volunteers to lead these efforts in their own communities.we share the stories, processes, and lessons of this community reconciliation work with the world, to illuminate the universal values behind them, and to encourage people to examine their own lives and communities in the light of these values. In the service of these goals, we have maintained an active blog and other social media tools, published and distributed high quality printed reports/booklets, and produced audio and video pieces of the stories of the work. We also completed a book on fambul tok telling our story.","year":2011,"name":"FAMBUL TOK INTERNATIONAL","phone":"2077752616","website":"WWW.FAMBULTOK.ORG","type":"990","foreign_countries":["Angola","Benin","Botswana","Burkina Faso","Burundi","Cameroon","Cape Verde","Central African Republic","Chad","Comoros","Congo","Congo, Democratic Republic of the","Cote d'Ivoire","Djibouti","Equatorial Guinea","Eritrea","Ethiopia","Gabon","Gambia","Ghana","Guinea","Guinea-Bissau","Kenya","Lesotho","Liberia","Madagascar","Malawi","Mali","Mauritania","Mauritius","Mayotte","Mozambique","Namibia","Niger","Nigeria","Rwanda","Saint Helena","Sao Tome and Principe","Senegal","Seychelles","Sierra Leone","Somalia","South Africa","South Sudan","Sudan","Swaziland","Tanzania","Togo","Uganda","Zambia","Zimbabwe"],"principal_officer":"ELISABETH HOFFMAN","year_formation":2009,"state_legal_domicile":"ME","total_volunteers":3000,"tax_period_begin":"2011-01-01T00:00:00","tax_period_end":"2011-12-31T00:00:00","address":"50 EXCHANGE STREET FL3, PORTLAND, ME, 04101, USA","city":"PORTLAND","state":"ME","country":"USA","zip_code":"04101"},"Governance":{"501c3 determination":true,"Number of voting members":5,"Number of independent voting members":4,"Number of employees total":5,"Total Gross UBI":0,"Net unrelated business taxable income":0,"Number of employees":5,"Prohibited tax shelter transactions":false,"Taxable party notification":false,"Funds to pay premiums":false,"Premiums Paid":false,"Family or business relationship":false,"Delegation of management duties":false,"Conflict of interest policy":true,"Whistle blower policy":false,"Compensation process for CEO":true,"Compensation process for other employees":true,"Changes to organizing documents":false,"Material diversion or misuse":false,"Members or stockholders":false,"Election of board members":false,"Decisions subject to approval":false,"Minutes of governing body":true,"Local chapters":false,"Form 990 provided to governing body":true,"Document retention policy":true,"Investment in joint venture":false,"Independent audit financial statements":false,"Consolidated audit financial statements":false,"Accountant compile or review":false,"Financial statements audited by independent accountant":false,"Federal grant audit required":false,"Political activities":false,"Donor advised funds":false,"Conservation easements":false,"Collections of art":false,"School":false,"Hospital":false,"Foreign activities":true,"Foreign office":true,"Gaming":false,"Fundraising activities":false,"Professional fundraising":false,"Loan to officer or DQP":false,"Grant to related person":false,"Business relationship through family member":false,"Business relationship with organization":false,"Transfers to exempt non-charitable organization":false},"Revenues":{"value":1123775,"Contributions":{"value":1110549,"Other contributions":1110549},"Program revenue":{"value":3500,"Total revenue":3500,"Unrelated business revenue":0},"Investment income":{"value":44,"Investment income total":44},"Other revenues":{"value":9682,"Other total":9682}},"Expenses":{"value":1330480,"Grant expense":{"value":0},"Total professional fundraising expense":{"value":0},"Benefits paid to members":{"value":0},"Salaries":{"value":501156,"Current officers":84386,"Other salaries and wages":388321,"Other employee benefits":18473,"Payroll taxes":9976},"Other expenses":{"value":829324,"Management services":48130,"Legal":28978,"Accounting":22361,"Advertising":23162,"Office expenses":44480,"Information technology":52694,"Occupancy":49664,"Travel":102748,"Conferences and meetings":9383,"Depreciation and depletion":69097,"Insurance":12828,"Itemized Expenses":{"value":351377,"VARIOUS":351377},"All other expenses":14422}},"Assets":{"value":0,"Non-interest bearing cash":0,"Savings and temp cash investments":0,"Pledges and grants receivable":0,"Accounts receivable":0,"Receivables from officers":0,"Receivables from disqual persons":0,"Other net note and loans":0,"Inventories for sale or use":0,"Prepaid expenses deferred charges":0,"Land, building, equipment":0,"Investments publicly traded":0,"Investments other":0,"Investments program related":0,"Intangible assets":0,"Other assets":0},"Liabilities":{"value":0},"Fund balance":{"value":0},"Form990Details":{"program_service_accomplishments":[{"description":"FAMBUL TOK (KRIO FOR \"FAMILY TALK\") FACILITATES POST WAR COMMUNITY OWNED RECONCILIATION, WITH LONG-TERM PROCESSES LED BY EACH COMMUNITY.
