We were on pace to see 6000 patients for the year. After the january 12, 2010 quake, in which our leased building was destroyed, the clinic closed for 6 weeks. During that time visiting international medical groups operated in our courtyard working under tents and makeshift shelters seeing approximately 1800 patients in a 6 week period. In early march 2010 the clinic reopened on a 3 day a week basis and visiting medical and dental groups continued to work in cooperation with our medical staff. We also operate a nutrition program which provides food and nutritional education to 75 families in the neighborhood in which we are located. (see schedule o) after the earthquake we have worked with relief agencies to secure and distribute food and clean drinking water, 350 tents, 150 tarps, 70 cooking stoves and 100 blankets. Visiting psychiatric professionals were made available for trauma and grief counseling and we have embarked on art therapy program for the children. We have facilitated relocation of 41 families to the provinces outside of port-au-prince and support a clinic serving earthquake refugees.\n\nHospice st. Joseph provides scholarships to 157 elementary and high school students, 5 post secondary students and provides vocational training to men and women in the neighborhood we serve. In addition we run an afterschool program that focuses on providing remedial help to struggling students as well as enrichment programs to all students. As part of the education program each student is given an annual physical examination in our clinic and referral to specialists if necessary. An annual dental exam is also provided and eyeglasses are provded to students who need corrective lenses. All children attending the after school and summer programs receive a daily nutritious meal. After the earthquake, when schools were temporarily closed, displaced teachers were hired and (see schedule o) conducted morning and afternoon sessions six days a week. Students attended on a rotating basis. We also continued to provide tuition assistance to students who needed to relocate out of port-au-prince.\n\nThe hospitality program is run as an adjunct to both the medical and educational programs. International guests come to haiti to run and develop their own medical, educational programs as well as to address sanitation, and clean water, economic development and a variety of other issues impacting this, the poorest country in the western hemisphere. For a modest fee guests are provided lodging and 2 meals a day. We also offer hospitality to medical patients from the outlying provinces seeking care in the capital city that is not available in their villages. The guests from the provinces are typically sponsored by partner organizations. On occasion and where needed we secure visas for these patients to receive life changing or life saving care in the united states. We were on pace to see 6000 patients for the year. After the january 12, 2010 quake, in which our leased building was destroyed, the clinic closed for 6 weeks. During that time visiting international medical groups operated in our courtyard working under tents and makeshift shelters seeing approximately 1800 patients in a 6 week period. In early march 2010 the clinic reopened on a 3 day a week basis and visiting medical and dental groups continued to work in cooperation with our medical staff. We also operate a nutrition program which provides food and nutritional education to 75 families in the neighborhood in which we are located. (see schedule o) after the earthquake we have worked with relief agencies to secure and distribute food and clean drinking water, 350 tents, 150 tarps, 70 cooking stoves and 100 blankets. Visiting psychiatric professionals were made available for trauma and grief counseling and we have embarked on art therapy program for the children. We have facilitated relocation of 41 families to the provinces outside of port-au-prince and support a clinic serving earthquake refugees.\n\nHospice st. Joseph provides scholarships to 157 elementary and high school students, 5 post secondary students and provides vocational training to men and women in the neighborhood we serve. In addition we run an afterschool program that focuses on providing remedial help to struggling students as well as enrichment programs to all students. As part of the education program each student is given an annual physical examination in our clinic and referral to specialists if necessary. An annual dental exam is also provided and eyeglasses are provded to students who need corrective lenses. All children attending the after school and summer programs receive a daily nutritious meal. After the earthquake, when schools were temporarily closed, displaced teachers were hired and (see schedule o) conducted morning and afternoon sessions six days a week. Students attended on a rotating basis. We also continued to provide tuition assistance to students who needed to relocate out of port-au-prince.\n\nThe hospitality program is run as an adjunct to both the medical and educational programs. International guests come to haiti to run and develop their own medical, educational programs as well as to address sanitation, and clean water, economic development and a variety of other issues impacting this, the poorest country in the western hemisphere.
