The organization will be treated as normally receiving substantial public support if at least 10 percent of the total support normally received by the organization is governmental or public support [Reg. Section 1.170A-9(e)(3)(i)]. An organization meets the requirement of attracting new and additional public or governmental support if it maintains a continuous and bona fide program for soliciting funds from the general public or it carries on activities designed to attract support from governmental units, churches, educational organizations, or other publicly supported charitable or cultural organizations [Reg. Section 1.170A-9(e)(3)(ii)].We Teach Science Foundation reflects a cumulative public support test of 31.53%, which is a temporary dip below the 33.3% threshold.We Teach Science Foundation has an active ongoing campaign to secure funds from a variety of third-party sources. During the fiscal year ended June 30, 2015, We Teach Science Foundation received two very large and unusual contributions which resulted in the organizations public support percentage dipping below 33.3%. One of the contributions was received from AT&T in the amount of $700,000 to fund the Remote Tutoring and Mentoring Program targeting underserved students in low-performing schools with Basic and Below Basic scores on statewide math exams. One of the other large contributions was received from the William K. Bowes Jr. Foundation in the amount of $500,000 to provide Funding in support of the organization's development team.We Teach Science Foundation has a diverse Board of Directors, with representatives from a variety of backgrounds providing guidance, support and foresight.We Teach Science Foundations mission is to motivate, inspire and mentor American public school students (age K-12) to achieve excellence in the disciplines of math and science, reaching out to students who otherwise do not have access to resources available to the more affluent student body population.
