3,000 outstate through the intergenerational community docent program: -recruit, train and deploy 18 high school students and 18 senior citizens to serve as docents for the north star exhibit and an additional group of 12 for minnesota's negro baseball; the docents lead tours and devote their time to making the exhibits come alive for visitors through the youth advisory board: -recruit, train and support a group of twin cities 6-12th grade students to operate in parallel with the museum's board of directors, offering constructive input on everything from exhibit and program strategies to youth volunteer opportunities\n\nEnrich minnesota history curriculum statewide: -recruit and select two school districts to participate in the demonstration program for 2011/12 -design and implement cooperative program with the university of minnesota african american studies department and minneapolis community & technical college -create, test, disseminate curriculum material for at least one age cohort (i.e. 4-6th grade) -create and accredit a summer institute program for classroom teachers -enroll at least 30 teachers for a professional development program to build skill sets that assist These exhibits are accompanied by trained actors/docents and are available to travel to elementary and middle schools in the area. There were 7 trunk-it school activities conducted during 2012.available trunk-it exhibits include:-jackie robinson: baseball player-fredrick mcghee (1861-1912): one of america's first african american attorneys and a civil rights activist.-gordon parks (1912-2006): musician, photographer, filmmaker, author and composer.-emily goodridge grey (1831-1916): abolitionist, activist and author.-frederick mckinney jones (1893-1961): inventor and mechanical engineer. Maam is working to help all children understand and negotiate a world filled with people of different races, cultures, ethnicities, backgrounds, belief systems and orientations. By providing tools to teachers and school administrators to enhance curriculums, trunk-it makes it easy to demonstrate the value of diversity and history.trunk-it introduces students to the many accomplishments of african americans in minnesota and the region over the past 200 years. Department of interior's regulations for restoration of an historic building. Limited tours were held in the museum during 2012. Further on-site operations will begin following the completion of the restoration.\n\nExhibits: debut of baseball exhibit in june, 2012. Planning and fabrication is underway for additional exhibits.\n\nTrunk-it is history in a trunk, a museum without walls. These exhibits are accompanied by trained actors/docents and are available to travel to elementary and middle schools in the area. There were 7 trunk-it school activities conducted during 2012.available trunk-it exhibits include:-jackie robinson: baseball player-fredrick mcghee (1861-1912): one of america's first african american attorneys and a civil rights activist.-gordon parks (1912-2006): musician, photographer, filmmaker, author and composer.-emily goodridge grey (1831-1916): abolitionist, activist and author.-frederick mckinney jones (1893-1961): inventor and mechanical engineer. Maam is working to help all children understand and negotiate a world filled with people of different races, cultures, ethnicities, backgrounds, belief systems and orientations.
