Emergency crisis intervention/assessment services are offered 24 hours a day, seven days a week in association with the tri-county crisis center. Residents of darke, miami, and shelby counties are able to obtain services through a crisis hotline or by walk-in assessment.miami county mental health center provides charity care to its clients. Charity care is determined case-by-case, based on each client's circumstances and needs. It is standard practice that the fees charged to a client are determined by a sliding fee scale that is based on a client's monthly income in relation to the federal poverty guidelines. The client is charged a percentage of the total usual and customary fee, ranging from 0% to 100%. The difference between the standard fees and the fees ultimately charged as determined by the sliding fee scale is classified as charity care. A portion of the cost of charity care is offset by funds received from the tri-county board of recovery and mental health center funding levy.mcmhc carries on a program of community education through a number of activities. Staff members participate in the uvmc's speakers bureau by providing free presentations to area civic, service, and social groups, professional organizations, schools, churches, and industry. Topics may include depression, suicide, and attention deficit disorders. Other community speaking engagements include the local juvenile court system, which hears topics such as anger management, bipolar disorders, and autism, among others.
