Our school meal efforts included convincing schools with significant low-income student populations to participate in the school breakfast program and informing the households with school aged children that we assist on our snap line of their children's eligibility for free school meals. We conducted 10 community workshops to recruit new sponsors and sites as well as provided technical assistance and advice for existing sponsors and sites concerning best practices and promotion/outreach. The goal of the food stamp participation project is to connect eligible low income households to the supplemental nutrition assistance program (snap) in south central pa. Phac screened 1,120 households under this program and submitted 947 applications. Approximately 728 individuals received a total of 73,749 in snap benefits per month. Funded by the central pa food bank, phac also raises awareness of snap amongst area food pantries and commodity supplemental food program (cfsp)consumers. Phac visited 65 food pantries/csfp distribution centers at which staff screened 277 households and submitted 177 applications. 584 callers referenced one of these events as their primary referral source for contacting phac's snap line.
