hospital alliance providing education and knowledge transfer activities.","primary_activities":"Research, develop and maintain joint venture, best practice applications and knowledge transfer initiatives. The current membership of over 50 acute care hospitals and thousands of alternate site facilities benefit from best-practice applications and knowledge transfer initiatives generated through the collaborative process Yankee has developed over the past two and one half decades. In addition beginning in January 2012, the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation (CMMI) announced the availability of funding to help hospitals reduce preventable readmissions by twenty percent and reduce preventable hospital-acquired conditions by forty percent through the Partnership for Patients (PFP). To facilitate meeting these goals and spreading innovation across the hospital community, CMMI has approved Premier as a \"Hospital Engagement Contractor\" or HEC. Yankee Alliance is working with Premier as an Affinity Group to support our member hospitals in efforts regionally while utilizing the support of the Premier national member network. This is a two year program with an optional third year of funding if the goals are met. We currently have four separate hospital systems and a total of eight hospitals involved in the program.\n\nIn furtherance of its own tax-exempt purposes, Yankee Alliance, Inc. provides management services to related entities, which allow for transformational learning by connecting, collaborating and communicating activities through best practices applications and knowledge transfer initiatives to improve hospital operations and performance.\n\nYankee Alliance, Inc. provides funds in the form of annual grants to its tax-exempt member hospitals. The Organization was created to foster joint programs and ventures among its not-for-profit hospital members. The grant program helps to fund programs or projects that improve the quality of patient care, expand medical and health related services offered by member institutions, and/or lower the costs of services being provided by member institutions. Grant recipients are expected to share their \"lessons learned\" with the greater membership. During FY12, Yankee Alliance, Inc. also provided grants to its tax-exempt hospital members in the amount of $1,275,000 to support the Yankee Alliance Supply View Program. This program provides patron-hospitals with the insight into product utilization and price with the goal of implementing industry best practices that support quality of care and reduction of supply chain expense through the use of a data analytics software known as SUPPLYview. The SUPPLYview program provides analysis and recommendations in four specific areas: (1) Identifies opportunities for members to improve product prices by accessing available contracts, (2) Suggests areas to standardize products resulting in less variability of care and lower cost, (3) Benchmarks product prices against a national database to identify opportunities to improve product pricing and (4) Recommends best practices for product utilization that result in less variability and lower cost of care.During the fiscal year ended June 30, 2012, patron hospitals were able to document savings from the Supply View Program of $11,514,662 plus an additional $25,778,219 of related savings for implementation in the fiscal year of June 30, 2013.\n\nBeginning January 1, 2012, the Organization went through a corporate restructure. As of that date, all of Yankee Alliance Inc.'s employees became employees of Yankee Alliance LLC. In addition, management services to related entities and operations are performed by Yankee Alliance LLC.\n\nEight of the nine founding members of Yankee Alliance, Inc. are all, and the only, partners of Yankee Alliance, LLC.","year":2011,"name":"Yankee Alliance Inc","phone":"9784702000","website":"www.yankeealliance.com","type":"990","principal_officer":"James Oliver","year_formation":1984,"state_legal_domicile":"MA","total_volunteers":0,"tax_period_begin":"2011-07-01T00:00:00","tax_period_end":"2012-06-30T00:00:00","address":"138 River Road, Andover, MA, 018101083, USA","city":"Andover","state":"MA","country":"USA","zip_code":"018101083"},"Governance":{"501c3 determination":true,"Number of voting members":8,"Number of independent voting members":8,"Number of employees total":67,"Total Gross UBI":1550457,"Net unrelated business taxable income":0,"Number of employees":67,"Prohibited tax shelter transactions":false,"Taxable party notification":false,"Funds to pay premiums":false,"Premiums Paid":false,"Family or business relationship":false,"Delegation of management duties":false,"Conflict of interest policy":true,"Whistle blower policy":true,"Compensation process for CEO":true,"Compensation process for other employees":true,"Changes to organizing documents":false,"Material diversion or misuse":false,"Members or stockholders":true,"Election of board members":true,"Decisions subject to approval":false,"Minutes of governing body":true,"Local chapters":false,"Form 990 provided to governing body":true,"Document retention policy":true,"Investment in joint venture":false,"Independent audit financial statements":false,"Consolidated audit financial statements":true,"Accountant compile or review":false,"Financial statements audited by independent accountant":true,"Audit committee":true,"Federal grant audit required":false,"Political activities":false,"Donor advised funds":false,"Conservation easements":false,"Collections of art":false,"School":false,"Hospital":false,"Foreign activities":false,"Foreign office":false,"Gaming":false,"Fundraising activities":false,"Professional fundraising":false,"Loan to officer or DQP":false,"Grant to related person":false,"Business relationship through family member":false,"Business relationship with organization":false,"Transfers to exempt non-charitable organization":false},"Revenues":{"value":4722412,"Contributions":{"value":0},"Program revenue":{"value":4670326,"Total revenue":{"value":4670326,"VARIOUS":4670326},"Unrelated business revenue":1550457},"Investment income":{"value":52086,"Investment income total":52086},"Other revenues":{"value":0}},"Expenses":{"value":8482570,"Grant expense":{"value":3726294,"Grants to domestic orgs":3726294},"Total professional fundraising expense":{"value":0},"Benefits paid to members":{"value":0},"Salaries":{"value":3468618,"Current officers":756825,"Other salaries and wages":2159808,"Pension plan contributions":73794,"Other employee benefits":328405,"Payroll taxes":149786},"Other expenses":{"value":1287658,"Management services":432828,"Legal":57893,"Accounting":11695,"Other services":177589,"Advertising":79376,"Office expenses":81644,"Information technology":17259,"Occupancy":131260,"Travel":55515,"Conferences and meetings":19883,"Depreciation and depletion":186988,"Insurance":22967,"Itemized Expenses":{"value":12672,"VARIOUS":12672},"All other expenses":89}},"Assets":{"value":9877591,"Non-interest bearing cash":4207901,"Savings and temp cash investments":3165096,"Accounts receivable":62223,"Prepaid expenses deferred charges":48258,"Land, building, equipment":417339,"Investments other":1128766,"Other assets":848008},"Liabilities":{"value":1383366,"Accounts payable, accrued":116636,"Deferred, revenue":0,"Other liabilities":1266730},"Fund balance":{"value":8494225},"Form990Details":{"program_service_accomplishments":[{"description":"Research, develop and maintain joint venture, best practice applications and knowledge transfer initiatives. activities.","primary_activities":"Research, develop and maintain joint venture, best practice applications and knowledge transfer initiatives. The current membership of over 50 acute care hospitals and thousands of alternate site facilities benefit from best-practice applications and knowledge transfer initiatives generated through the collaborative process Yankee has developed over the past two and one half decades.\n\nIn furtherance of its own tax-exempt purposes, Yankee Alliance, Inc provides management services to related entities, which allow for transformational learning by connecting, collaborating and communicating activities through best practices applications and knowledge transfer initiatives to improve hospital operations and performance.\n\nYankee Alliance, Inc. provides funds in the form of annual grants to its tax-exempt member hospitals. During FY 11, Yankee Alliance, Inc. also made grants in support of its tax-exempt hospital members as follows:Hospital Breakthrough Series Collaborative - Yankee Alliance made grants to Yankee Alliance Supply Chain Cooperative, Inc. in order to provide services to patron-hospitals in multiple areas that serve to improve clinical processes and reduce supply chain expense (purchasing) without negatively impacting the quality of patient care.
