The three components of our program are 1) character education 2) stem (science technology engineering math) and 3) aces - arts, culture, enrichment and sports. It is our belief that by introducing and exposing young people to areas of wide variety of interests and activities, that it increases the chance to discover one's lifelong passions. We bring the programming to the kids and work with direct service providers to engage youth in a robust and meaningful way. Our curriculum runs throughout the school year and ctk staff serves as the program coordinator and the instructor for a portion of the curriculum. During the school year, students participate in the following curriculum: \"character education - each day when in session, students will receive character education development taught by trained ctk instructors \"arts & culture sessions are either on site at the school or field trips to each of our cultural partners including: history colorado, cleo parker robinson dance, art programs, denver performing arts complex \"sports & athletics are taught by ctk staff members and include lacrosse, soccer and basketball. Program partners such as first tee golf program teach golf. \"stem programming is taught by outside providers (tbd) each student participating in connect the kids receives approximately 4-6 hours per week of direct instruction/participation. Connect the kids meets two days per week - either monday and wednesday or thursday and thursday. Each student will receive a total of 128 hours of instruction and direct participation per year. In 2012-13 we served 100 students at sims-fayola international academy. Connect the kids costs approximately 36 per week per child.
