FLYP does so by giving young professionals opportunities to: Help them build meaningful roots here by connecting them with jobs, friends, education, local causes. Provide opportunities that help build lasting personal and professional relationships. Connect people with leadership opportunities that otherwise would not be available to them. Linking young professionals with mentors","primary_activities":"FLYP organizes 10-12 monthly mixers at local businesses and restaurants across the community. Mixers average 40-50 attendees and are free for all participants to attend. Expenses include $100 a month for appetizers and payment for use of special venues that support local organizations.\n\nFLYP helps build up future leaders by investing in volunteer board members. A dozen volunteer board members from all sectors contribute to communications, event programming and professional development year round. Expenses include one weekend retreat at the beginning of the year and cover lodging, meals and light refreshments. A second mid-year retreat is held locally for one day to reinvest and recommit to finishing the second half of the year through programming, networking activities and brainstorm sessions.\n\nFLYP holds an annual Banquet that recognizes young five leaders, nonprofit and business executives at their annual event. Community members nominate their peers for this special recognition. Attendance averages at about 80 guests.
