The organization contributed to the national commander's project such as national emergency fund to help legion members who is in need of financial assistance during disaster, the legion's legacy shcoloarship fund, which funds the education of children who have lost a parent in our nation's service and to the comfort warriors fund, which provides comfort iterms not issued by the military or government to the wounded soldiers in the miliary hospitals. The organization also has an annual scholarship program. Four (4) awards for high school graduates who will be giving on to college and four (4) for college students based on their scholastic achievements and community service credential. In addition, a special annual award is given in memory of spc roger ling. Spc roger ling was the first asian american who died while service our country during the fight against terrorism. To qualify, one must be a student of cardozo high school, the school which spc roger ling graduated, with outstanding scholastic achievements as well as have contributed civilly and patriotically. The orgazniation also participates in community activities(services) such as 'clean up chinatown';and double ten(chinese independece day); chinese lunar new year parade. The organization provides color guard details to present the colors in the opening ceremonies for many civic and community functions, some of which are: sba veterans job fair and businesses success, autumn-moon cultural festival, lunar new year celebration opening ceremony, the U.S.department of homeland security naturalization cermony. The organization supports cpldc (chinatown partnership local development corporation)functions. The organization is co-partnership with the downtown hospital for the community health related progams including 'tai chi for life' exercise classes and annual flu vaccination. The organization provided the second floor auditorium to chinatown working group (cwg) for their nomthly meeting. The organizatioln's facitlity is open from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm weekdays and 9:00 am to 6:00 pm on wekend. The members can read the daily newspapers or books in the library. They can watch television, or play domino or play tile cards, or relax and enjoy each others company. The organization also provides refreshment and coffee or tea daily to its members.
